The Tar Heels come into the home stretch of the ACC regular season with three games remaining on the regular season schedule.
| 02/28/09 | vs. Georgia Tech | Chapel Hill, N.C. | 12:00 p.m. ET |
| 03/04/09 | at Virginia Tech | Blacksburg, Va. | 7:00 p.m. ET |
| 03/08/09 | vs. Duke | Chapel Hill, N.C. | 4:00 p.m. ET |
The 'Heels have not lost a game outside of the conference this year, which bodes well for the 'Big Dance', but what about the Conference tourney? The bane of the UNC existence is the ten year drought in the ACC tournament, but this year the Heels are poised to break the mold. The difference this year is the consistency and momentum they roll into the tournament with. As winners of 10 of their last 11 the Heels are in position to claim a top seed in both tournaments. The importance of winning the conf. tournaments has changed dramatically over the past decade as the philosophy of 'one and done' doesn't do enough to get you a number one seed in the NCAA's, and for UNC anything less than cutting down the nets in both tournaments (although a tall order), would be a disappointment. When considering such a daunting task, I ask who better equipped to accomplish it? With the power game of Hansbrough inside and outside shooting of Lawson outside, and a power supporting cast, UNC can match talent with anyone in the nation. I for one, think this is the year it all comes together and the Tar Heels hit the Daily Double.
